It was a privilege to hear from Lila Tretikov (CVP of Microsoft), sharing her insights on the future of AI at the Singapore Defence Technology Summit. Lila emphasized that AI is here to support, not replace, humans in our work and daily lives. She highlighted the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring everyone can benefit from AI advancements.
🌍 Transforming industries, AI is creating new job opportunities and making our work more enjoyable by tackling mundane tasks and freeing us up to focus on creativity and innovation. Additionally, AI can serve as a powerful learning tool, although its misuse for cheating ultimately harms the perpetrator.
🔬 Lila also underscored governments’ crucial role in driving innovation, citing examples of countries like Taiwan that have adopted open-source and crowdsourcing approaches to foster growth.
⚔️ In defence and security, AI and autonomy will be game-changers. Countermeasures will likely involve AI-powered cybersecurity to protect these systems. Ms Tretikov’s insights painted a vivid picture of AI’s potential impact on society and the importance of responsible development and usage.
